Smartlogic’s semantic software improves NASA search experience Print E-mail

Searching for information on space exploration is now much easier thanks to UK software developers Smartlogic. The company's semantic software package Semaphore has been implemented by NASA to classify automatically half a century's information on the manned space flight programme. Working in partnership with Google, whose Search Appliance already manages the vast volume of data NASA stores, Semaphore provides a contextual semantic search facility for the space agency's staff.

Windows 7 fails to impress eWEEK Labs Print E-mail

When eWEEK Labs published their Products of the Year list for 2009 one of the highest profile omissions was Microsoft's Windows 7. Why? The overall impression felt by the magazine's panel was that "while Windows 7 may prove to be the best overall operating system Microsoft has delivered, in our tests it provided only incremental improvements over a highly unpopular predecessor - many of the critical improvements in Windows 7 were actually included first in Windows Vista."
